Mother donates her dead daughter's heart to save life of little girl (photos)
- A US woman lost her daughter in 2015 and decided to donate her heart to save the life of a young child in need
- Two years later, she has met the little girl whose life her daughter's heart saved
In
July 2015, an Ohio mother's worst fear unraveled—her eight-year-old
daughter suddenly passed away after an asthmatic attack. She then
selflessly decided to donate her heart for a child who may be in need of
a heart transplant.
At
the same time, five-year-old Peyton Richardson, based in Atlanta,
Georgia, had been on a heart transplant list for months after a cold
virus attacked her heart. Tests established that Amber Travaglio's
daughter's heart was a match for little Peyton.
Amber
gave her permission for the heart transplant to go ahead, thereby
saving Peyton's life. Now, in a touching moment two years later, Amber
has met Peyton, who carries the heart of her dead daughter, Melody.
Amber
has described the moment she met Peyton as touching and emotional, and
has added that it gave her closure and healing over her daughter sudden
passing two years ago.
Amber
has also revealed that she has already met the recipient of her
daughter's kidney, which she also donated. She says the experience of
giving other children a second chance at life is fulfilling.
