Screening of all inbound passengers into Nigeria has commenced at the Murtala Muhammed Int'l Airport (MMIA), Lagos and other International Airports in Nigeria.  The measure was taken after the dreaded Ebola virus was reported to have surfaced Congo again.

The 2017 budget has been finally passed by the Senate, report just reaching Business Post from Abuja indicates. The Senate, coming out of a closed-door session, announced the passage of the budget after over four months. The 2017 appropriation bill was submitted to a joint session of the National Assembly in 2016 by President Muhammadu Buhari. With the passage of the budget on Thursday, May 11, 2017 (today), the executive would be required to go through it before assenting to it. Details later.

The Federal University of Technology Minna, has been thrown into mourning following the death of a female postgraduate student, Bolatito Ajuola, by a man suspected to be her fiancé. It was learnt that Ajuola, a student of Science Education, was allegedly stabbed to death at about 11pm on Monday at her off-campus residence. Eyewitnesses said the man, Best Origboshe, was a staff in a company owned by the victim’s father in Ondo State, when the duo began a romantic affair. Best was said to have lost his job, resulting in Ajuola asking him to join her in Minna. It was said that on Monday, Best and Ajuola had returned from shopping when the victim prepared dinner and set the table for them to eat. Northern City News gathered that Origboshe was reluctant to eat the meal, claiming that it was too hot when Ajuola queried him for shunning her food. By Hamisu Kabir Matazu, Damaturu A police sergeant, identified as Kennedy has shot his girlfriend and killed himself, Tuesday, in Potiskum town, Potiskum local government area of Yobe State. Daily Trust gathered that the incident happened around 11:45am inside the sergeants apartment located at old secretariat building, adjacent Potiskum police station. The Police Commissioner, Yobe State command, Abdumaliki Sunmonu, confirmed that the incident happened in the Sergeant's house. He said the Sergeant was in the room with his girlfriend when the gunshots were heard. "Later on, it was discovered that the sergeant shot his girlfriend, and shot himself. They were taken to hospital, the Sergeant was confirmed dead, while the girlfriend was in critical condition," he said. He said that the sergeant was alone with the girlfriend in the room when the incident happened so only preliminary investigation will revealed what actually transpired. A 26-year-old man has reportedly stabbed his 18-year-old girlfriend in a hotel room in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital. The man took to his heels when the wailing of the victim attracted the attention of other guests in the guest house who came to her rescue. The victim was identified as Miss Faith Pius The guest house is located at Biogbolo area of Yenagoa. A guest said that the suspect escaped when other guests and residents in the neighbourhood rushed to the scene. The source, who pleaded anonymity, said the incident happened on Friday night. Miss Faith was rushed to a private clinic where she was treated and the wounds stitched. “ But she developed complications on Saturday and she died on Sunday morning ,’’ the source said. An Assistant Superintendent of Nigerian Customs has allegedly committed suicide in the Lungu Village area of Gwarinpa, Abuja The cause of the suicide was yet to be ascertained. Sources said the man, identified as Christian, 44, locked himself in a room and hung himself with a rope on Saturday. A source said the deceased, who was unmarried, was staying with his brother and was said to have been recently transferred to Lagos before the incident happened. The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the brother whom the deceased stayed with was at a barber’s shop when the incident happened. He said the man was confirmed dead at the Kubwa General Hospital. “Exhibits recovered include some drugs and knife.” Preliminary investigation, he said, had revealed that the deceased was suffering from depression.

This young man was allegedly killed and properties destroyed by political thugs who attacked him in Tagwaye town in Doguwa LGA of Kano state. The reason for this gruesome attack was not revealed as other vehicles and properties were destroyed by the hoodlums in the area.

Popular Nigerian singer and photographer, Toyin Sokefun-Bello [aka TY Bello], has opened up on how she was s*xually abused while she was growing up. While speaking on Accelerate TV series, ‘King Women’ TY Bello revealed that she was molested as a child and that it had a negative effect on her during her formative years. The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to change California's ban on "gay conversion" therapy aimed at turning youths under age 18 away from homosexuality, rejecting a Christian minister's challenge to the law which he said violates religious rights. The justices, rejected a challenge to the 2012 law for the second time in three years, let stand a lower court's ruling that it was constitutional and neither impinged upon free exercise of religion nor impacted the activities of clergy members. The law prohibits state-licensed mental health counselors, including psychologists and social workers, from offering therapy to change sexual orientation in minors. The Supreme Court in 2014 refused to review the law after an appeals court rejected claims that the ban infringed on free speech rights under U.S. Constitution's the First Amendment.   Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE in line with its mandate to rid Niger Delta of all criminal acts of militancy and kidnappings in a special operation repelled an attack on troops location around Ajakpa community in the creeks of Southern Ondo State last night. The attack was led by one notorious gang leader, Ossy Ibori with a hideout at Ajakpa, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
